Broken hearts find your way / Make it through just this day (For Rebekah)

[ooc: After this.]

Well, that needed to not happen again, Damon thought to himself as he moved through the city, blending with the crowd and shadows. The bright lights were all around, but that just kept even more people's attention off of him. There were too many other things to look at.

He'd forgotten how easy it was to hunt in the city, and he had to wonder why the hell he'd ever left. It wasn't for anything...god. It seemed so long ago. Thinking he'd be the one to free Katherine. That she'd love him forever, that they'd hunt the night and lord it over everyone else, just the two of them.

That he wouldn't be alone, haunted only by the girl who'd been taken and the brother who'd damned him.

Fuck, but what was that saying? The more things changed...

A girl bumped into him, and apologized before thinking she could slip past him. Damon's hand slipped out and grabbed her arm, hard and fast. Before she could bother protesting, he had caught her gaze, compelled her to silence. Then slinging an arm around her, he guided her down the street, looking for a quiet place for a snack.

Maybe that would take his mind off the level of fucking horror these last few months. Or keep him from taking out his phone and sending a text for another night of...not aloneness.

"No desire to go back?" She asked casually but it wasn't really a casual question, was it? Part of her wondered if it was even worth getting involved with him on any level. Especially if there was a chance he was going to go running back to Elena and his brother.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
He slid a sideways glance at her. The casualness was...not really all that casual, and he knew it wasn't an easy question.

"Not now or any time soon," he said quietly. He had no doubt he'd go home, eventually, but. "There's nothing for me there."

Ric had been his best reason to stay, once Elena made her choice. He was gone, too.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-19 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Rebekah really was sorry about Ric. She hadn't really known him but he had seemed nice enough and he had been important to Damon. It seemed cruel to her that he had gotten caught up in her mother's schemes.

"I see." She nodded her head slowly.

"I'm never going back." She decided a moment later, shaking her head. There was too many painful memories there for her.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-19 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
He tilted her a sideways look, then found himself reaching for her hand as they walked. Yeah, he'd wanted her brother dead and would have happily killed him himself--even if it killed him, if he were honest.

There'd been a time when he'd been happy to include her in that, and Elijah and Kol, too, though mostly because....he saw no other way out of the war Klaus had brought. If the others had gone...the way they had now. He was glad, now, that she hadn't been killed, too.

"Had you been back much since...I don't know--you were human or whatever? Or was this the first time?"

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-19 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Rebekah was surprised by the contact but she didn't pull away. There was a part of her that starved for that connection and so she curled her fingers around his, thankful for it, as they continued to walk away from the club.

At one time, she had been on their side but then Elena had staked her. She might have even helped them afterwards but she had eventually come to realize that they would never let her in on their little circle of friend. She would always be an Original, a threat and Klaus's sister which meant she couldn't be trusted. It was a lonely feeling but she had gotten used to it. At least, that's what she told herself.

"I've been back a couple times over the centuries." She replied, glancing at him. "At least at first. I guess I went back looking for the good things, the happy memories, and to visit my...to visit the graves of those we lost." Her brother and her mother.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-19 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
He tightened his fingers a little around hers, thinking about everyone lost, at this point.

"Yeah," he said quietly. "Maybe...I might go back for that."

To visit Ric's grave. Maybe occasionally poke at Jeremy to see if he'd seen him. To find out if he was okay.

But he couldn't, yet.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
It was on the tip of her tongue to apologize for what had happened to his friend t the hands of her mother but she couldn't. She didn't want to remind him of the bad things that had happened lately, especially since it would cause trouble or tension between them.

"I'm sure you'lll go some time in the future." she glanced at him. "When you're ready."

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Damon didn't want to talk about it any deeper anymore, either. It wasn't something to dwell on--and he was far better at running from the pain than facing it.

"I'm sure I will," he agreed instead, fingers tightening a little on hers. "But not any time soon."

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"No, not any time soon." She agreed, her thumb brushing over his. "You should stay in New York for a little while and then maybe somewhere else?" Shenhad been considering the same thing after all.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
He cast her a sideways look. "Where else would you suggest?"

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
She shrugged a little. "I'll tell you when I figure it out. Right now I'd prefer to head to your place."

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
He wanted to ask if she would really leave Elijah, but he wasn't sure he wanted the answer. "Want to run?" Since they'd been more on her side of town than his. Plus...it might shake off some of the restraint.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Amusement flickered across her features before she shot him a mischievous look. "Want a head start?" She asked, teasing.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Damon made a little face, though his eyes sparkled a little. "I think that's only fair..." One eyebrow arched. "You remember where it was?"

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I can find my way." Rebekah smirked with a nod of her head.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll see you there, then," Damon said with a wink before taking off. He knew she could beat him, easily, in a straight out race, but he was hoping his knowledge of some shortcuts across town would give him an edge.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe he knew some shortcuts but so did she and she used them as she ran towards his place. Blurring through the streets and around, she made her way to his place seconds before he got there.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Damon had to laugh a little when he got there and she was there already. Of course she was. For a moment, it highlighted the difference in their ages, but really...that wasn't something he was likely to forget, ever. They'd had enough proof of it before.

"Well, at least you do remember," he said ruefully.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Looking a little smug, she tilted her head to the side as he came to a stop nearby.

"I have a good memory." She replied but that wouldn't really be a shock to him.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
There were some things he certainly wished she'd forget. Wished he could, too, but they were part of both of them, now. Still, he didn't let those thoughts show, just smiled.

"Convenient for times like these."

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
There was a flicker of something over her features but it was gone quickly as she nodded again.

"Very convenient." She moved to the side so he could open the door and let them in.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Damon let them in the main door, then led her up the stairs. His apartment took up the third floor, roomy for Manhattan, but nothing like the house back home. He kept meaning to find something nicer, but he sort of liked the eclectic feel to the neighborhood and the apartment itself.

Getting his door open, as well, he stepped back to let her precede him, watching her closely.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Entering his home, Rebekah took a moment to look around but there was no real reason to play around or to talk anymore. She was here for a reason, the same reason he had agreed to having her come back with him. They wanted a way to chase away the pain and the hurt for a little while. It was a need they understood.

Turning to face him, she waited till he moved towards and then she reached up to slide her fingers in his hair, using the hold to pull him down for a heated kiss. He was the only one, in a long time, who could match her passion and her hunger.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Damon was all right with stopping talking. Talking never really led anywhere good. He'd just been telling himself earlier that this couldn't, shouldn't, happen again. That didn't much matter now, as he slid his arms around her, and kissed her back with the hunger that had been building for a while.

One hand buried in her hair and he moved her back toward the bedroom blindly.

[identity profile] itconsumesher.livejournal.com 2012-09-22 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
As before, Rebekah was unforgiving as she moved her hands down to curl her fingers in his shirt, grabbing handfuls of material before she yanked hard to rip it open. She was unapologetic about it too as she figured he could replace the shirt later.

Moaning softly against his lips, she raked her nails over his chest then, not hard enough to draw blood but enough to sting as they entered his bedroom.
