No, really. I find people far more to my taste than animals

You Are a Hunter Soul

You are driven and ambitious - totally self motivated to succeed.
Actively working to achieve what you want, you are skillful in many areas.
You are a natural predator with strong instincts ... and more than a little demanding.
You are creative, energetic, and an extremely powerful force.

An outdoors person, you like animals and relate to them better than people.
You tend to have an explosive personality, but you also have a good sense of humor.
People sometimes see you as arrogant or a know it all.
You tend to be a bit of a loner, though you hate to be alone.

Souls you are most compatible with: Seeker Soul and Peacemaker Soul

Aside from the obvious, in your title, do you find this to be accurate?

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I think it sounds about right, yes.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Please, forgive my curiosity. I think it's interesting to see how everyone perceives themselves.

I'm Bella.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I've always found it fascinating, myself, especially when a person's perception differs greatly from how others might perceive them.

Hello, Bella. I'm Damon.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly. I've found that I rarely see myself as others do. It leads me to believe I need to take a closer look in the mirror. And, of course, it makes me admire those who can see themselves so clearly.

It's nice to meet you, Damon.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it just takes time to get that level of introspection--other times I think it's rather easy to get a grasp on yourself.

And you.

Tell me, Bella--how do you see yourself?

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
That makes sense...and, I'm sure it can be.

Me? I see myself as rather ordinary, most of the time, and somewhat naive. I think I tend to concentrate too much on what I want in the future, and I don't spend enough time seeing what's here in the present.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
For some, at least.

Interesting. Most who are naive never seem to realize it. However, focusing on the future instead of the present has always been a trap humanity has fallen into.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't think being naive is a good excuse for being ignorant of oneself. I recognize that I accept things I possibly shouldn't, and view things in ways that are a bit skewed. I do nothing to stop it, however, and I believe that is where the fault lies.

That's very true. People should focus more on what's in front of them now. I suppose that's why I'm attempting to shift my view.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
What sort of things do you accept that you shouldn't? Why don't you try and stop it?

How are you trying to shift your view?

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I accept things that people say, being told that something will be all right or that it's happening as it should. I suppose I don't try to stop it because it's...easier, more comfortable, to allow myself to believe that everything is okay. I suppose it amounts to lying to myself.

I'm looking at what I have now. I'm trying to accept that what I want may not happen...that things don't always work out the way we want. I think if I can be happy with who and what I am now, whatever future comes will be one I can, at least, accept.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Some people would just call that optimism, or hoping for the best. Wanting things to turn out all right...Sometimes they do, after all. I certainly like to believe they will go my way.

But what about going after what you want?

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I guess that's a way to look at it. So...you consider yourself an optimist, then?

I think it's good to go after what you want, but I also think it's wise to realize that sometimes pushing isn't neccesarily the way to achieve what you want. And, sometimes it's good to be accept what you already have as being enough.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm certainly not a pessimist.

Ah, yes. Well, pushing can be counterproductive, yes. Sometimes other, more subtle, means are far more effective in the long run, you're right. I'm afraid I've never been very good at the "enough" principle, however.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well...that's good. *smiles*

Hmm. I'm curious as to what other means you'd find effective, I must admit.
If you can't accept "enough", wouldn't that always leave you wanting? I'd think that would be difficult to live with, wouldn't it?

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
*smiles back* I've always thought so.

It depends on what I want and from whom. Different approaches work better in different situations. And as for enough--you have to always be striving for something, or you're just standing still. Though perhaps it's more that I've always been searching for what it is that I want. Perhaps if I found it...then it would be enough, then I would know what it felt like.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
You make some very good points. I don't think anyone wants to be standing still in life...even if they are concentrating on the present.
Hmm. I certainly hope you find what it is that you've been searching for.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Bella. I thought I had found it, but it seems my lot to keep searching.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome, Damon.

Oh...I'm sorry to hear that.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps it just isn't the right time, yet.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe I missed the right time.

I don't know.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
If whatever this is is the right thing for you, surely another 'right time' will come around again.

If not...maybe whatever you're truly searching for will come to you at the time you're least expecting it.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly certain there will never be another thing so right. I've never imagined there could be...but it seems fairly certain it isn't meant to be.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
*nods*

If you ever need to talk...I know we just met, but I can listen. Just a thought. Sometimes it helps.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's very kind of you to offer, Bella. After all, you don't know anything about me.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
*smiles* Well...hopefully, that will change.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
*faintly amused* Be careful what you hope for, Bella.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs quietly* Well, now you've done it. Ominous statements like that only serve to fuel my curiosity and strengthen my determination.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be sure and keep that in mind for the future.

[identity profile] swan-singer.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. All right...

I should go for now. I'm glad we met, Damon.

Good night.

[identity profile] prodigalsavior.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad we met as well, Bella.

Good night. Pleasant dreams.
