"I'm not like you."
Damon had spat the words at Matt, rejecting his words, his offer, and they echoed in his head now and again. But when he walked away, there had been only one place he felt he could go: home. Part of him was certain he should have gone elsewhere, somewhere he could disappear.
The other part of him half-wanted to be found, wanted to see if they would come after him, come to find him.
Florence had always been home, a place where he could settle into like a second skin. Funny now, how badly he'd wanted to get out of it when he'd been human. Now, it was a beacon, always.
He'd settled back into the exclusive house on Via Tornabuoni, its polished wood and marble frescoes and inlaid floors soothing something inside of him. Tonight, though, he'd left it for the clubs he knew a lot of students frequented. They always made such easy hunting, the girls all but begging to be embraced by darkness. It was almost too easy.
He had a drink in his hand, sitting on a couch in the VIP section. Several girls were vying for his attention, but he was only half paying attention, his thoughts half a world away.

Lifting her arms above her head, she continued to dance as she tilted her head back with a little smile, her eyes closed even as she let her mind drift along to the minds around her. So many superficial and empty thoughts, all focused mainly on feeling good for the night. All of them except for one mind that caught her attention as she opened her eyes and turned slightly to zero in on the guy sitting in the VIP area. It was where she could usually be found when she wasn't in the mood to dance.

Still, there was no mistaking what she was, in that unidentifiable sixth sense way that screamed vampire back at him.
He lifted his drink in a slight acknowledgment, lips curving in a half-smile.

Watching as he finally looked at her, she nodded her head slightly in return, knowing that he made her for a vampire but he would never guessed who she was or how old. She had started shielding herself a long time ago. It was easier when among among their kind. They tended to relax when they didn't know there was an Original nearby and it helped her to find out things they would normally want to keep from her.
Knowing that he was still watching, she winked before twisting to turn away, seeming to lose herself in the music again.

Still, more than concerned, he was curious. He watched her dance, appreciatively, for a few minutes. The girls snuggled around him seemed to notice his inattention, but that just made them work harder to catch it.
When they're blathering got annoying enough, he got up, abruptly, and moved toward the dancefloor.

Quietly she picked out a couple who were dancing nearby, knowing they weren't opposed to the idea of finding a third for a night of fun. The guy was a bit wiry for her taste but he was cute and his girlfriend had the most interesting hair as it was a shade of blue that Rebekah had to admire. Yes, they would do nicely.
Later though because right now she was going to focus on the vampire.

"I haven't seen you here before." Not here in the club, not here in Florence.

"Then I guess we've just been missing each other, haven't we?" She answered coyly.

"Then you should probably introduce yourself." There was a flicker of a smirk there as she looked at him expectantly

Of course, she might have been here before he got back, but as the otherwise eldest vampire in the city, he felt something of a duty to extend some sort of welcome.

"It's a pleasure to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine."

"So, how long have you been in town?"
no subject
"Nearly a month now."
no subject
"That would be why I haven't seen you then, I suppose. I just got back in town a week or so ago--I haven't really made the rounds until tonight."

Who were the easiest prey, of course. So excited about a "foreign experience," and so hard to find when they went missing.
